911 Receives Several Reports Of A Gray SUV With Hazard Lights On Driving Over 100 MPH

Uintah County—At approximately 12:00 PM, on March 21^st, 2026, 911 received several reports of a gray SUV with hazards on driving over 100 MPH.

Deputies searched the area but were unable to locate the vehicle. Deputy Russell confirmed the vehicle did not travel through Ballard on US-40.

At around 4:30 PM, 911 received additional reports of a gray SUV with its hazard lights on driving eastbound on US-121. It was reported that the vehicle was traveling at speeds exceeding 100 miles per hour, passing other vehicles in no-passing zones, and crossing into oncoming traffic.

Sgt. Watkins located the vehicle near 3500 W 500 N and initiated a traffic stop. He broadcast over the radio that he observed the driver throwing items out of the vehicle.

The vehicle yielded and came to a stop at approximately 2900 W 500 N (Hwy 121). Deputy Leishman and Sgt. Watkins began approaching the vehicles, giving the driver a command to shut off his vehicle, when the suspect sped off at a high rate of speed going East.

Due to heavy traffic and safety concerns, the pursuit was called off. An additional complainant reported seeing the vehicle heading southbound on 500 West. A description of the male was given, asking for a male with long black hair and darker skin.

While Deputy Leishman was canvassing the area, she noticed a male matching the description walking on 300 W 100 N, and stopped to speak with him. The male was later identified as 33-year-old Anthony Murray. At first, he provided law enforcement with a false name, but Sgt. Watkins positively identified Anthony, who was then taken into custody.

Murray admitted he was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle and stated he had been drinking and driving. A records check revealed Murray's driver's license was suspended in North Carolina.

Anthony was transported to the Uintah Basin Healthcare, where he consented to a blood draw. After receiving a medical clearance, Murray was taken to the Uintah County Jail.

Anthony’s vehicle was later found parked in someone’s driveway. It was searched and impounded.

During the search, cocaine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia were located. An open Budweiser can, which was seen by Sgt. Watkins, that had been discarded from the vehicle, was recovered from the roadway. Additional Budweiser containers were located inside the SUV.

Anthony could not provide an address where we could contact him. His mother lives in North Carolina. Before being transported to jail, Anthony commented that he wouldn't have cared if he had caused an accident while driving erratically.
