At approximately 8:30 p.m., Cpl. Nichols received a call from dispatch for an unknown 911 call located only by GPS coordinates. The caller only reported that there was broken glass and that he needed an ambulance.

Cpl. Nichols responded to the scene in a camper next to Ute Petroleum in Myton, where he met with the complainant.

The officer saw that he had injuries to his face, a lump and a fresh bruise on the left side of his forehead, some discoloration to his left cheek, and his nose appeared to be swollen. His hands also had minor lacerations.

Inside the residence were broken glass and blood droplets throughout the main living area of the camper.

The complainant stated he and his mother, 41-year-old Alexsis Ann Rasmussen, had gotten into an argument over his girlfriend, who was not present at the time of the altercation.

The argument resulted in Alexsis breaking things inside the residence, breaking a glass cabinet and a mirror.

The complainant showed the officer his iPhone, stating that his mother had broken it also. The phone was still semi-functional, but the screen had dead areas when he attempted to use it.

The victim reported that Alexsis had been drinking and fled the scene in a black 2008 Honda Pilot. Cpl. Nichols requested dispatch issue an attempt to locate (ATL) on both Alexsis and the vehicle.

While Cpl. Nichols was tending to the crime scene; Deputy Woodhouse reported over the radio that he observed the Honda Pilot pull into the parking lot at the Stoneridge Apartments at 185 East 800 South in Roosevelt, Ut.

Deputy Woodhouse detained the female subject and reported over the radio that he was conducting field sobriety tests. Cpl. Nichols cleared the scene in Myton and responded to Deputy Woodhouse’s location.

Deputy Woodhouse had Alexsis detained, handcuffed and placing her in his patrol vehicle. Cpl. Nichols interviewed her briefly and asked her how much she had to drink. She said she had five shots of Canadian Host about two hours ago.

The officer asked Alexsis about the altercation between her and the complainant, to which she denied anything had happened. She only admitted to breaking the glass inside the camper. She said she broke the glass because she was upset with her son, and had an argument about his girlfriend.

Cpl. Nichols noticed that Alexsis had dried blood in both nostrils. She denied that her son had hit her causing the blood. Alexsis stated she didn't know how she got the nosebleed and claimed her son had hit himself repeatedly, by punching himself in the face.

Alexsis stated that she was drunk and wouldn't likely be able to pass the field sobriety tests. However, she agreed to try, and her handcuffs were removed, and they continued with the FSTs.

The officer informed Alexsis, based on the SFT's results, the evidence, and the testimony given, that she was under arrest for both Assault and DUI.

Deputy Woodhouse placed her back in handcuffs with her arms behind her back and escorted her to his patrol vehicle. She was then transported to the Uintah Basin Medical Center for a medical clearance and a blood draw.

At the hospital, Alexsis was advised of her required DUI admonitions and requested the blood draw, which she agreed to submit to. Her blood was drawn, with the results pending.

Alexsis was reminded of her Miranda Rights prior to the formal interview, in which she stated that she did not wish to speak any further. They left the hospital, and Cpl. Nichols transported Alexsis to the Duchesne County Jail.

When they arrived at the jail, Alexsis requested that Cpl. Nichols photographed her hands, which he agreed to do. Upon examining her hands, he noticed what appeared to be recent bruising on the knuckles and inside the palm of her hand, which is consistent with striking a hard object or person.

The officer photographed the injuries and booked Alexsis into jail.
