At around 2:00 am, police were dispatched to a 9-1-1 unknown call. Dispatch advised that a female caller stated a child was being harmed or killed.
Dispatch advised deputies that the initial call originated at 10052 East Highway 40 and provided a vehicle GPS location of 7250 East Highway 40.
When officers arrived on scene, Deputy Anderton encountered the suspect, 33-year-old Jason Hans Monson, talking to BIA officers.
Through the investigation, it was learned Jason consumed alcohol at two locations, first at Swain's and later at Little B's. Jason stated an unidentified male had offered him a ride home.
During the ride, Jason called 9-1-1, saying he needed help. When the driver heard this call, the unidentified driver parked at the location on Highway 40 and made Jason get out of his vehicle, telling him to deal with it on his own.
During the deputy’s interaction with Jason, he saw signs of intoxication, including bloodshot, glossy eyes, the odor of alcohol on his person, and emotional behavior. Jason also stated several times that he was drunk and could not drive and was also unable to identify the male who drove him to their location.
Jason provided a breath sample on a portable breath test machine, which resulted in a 0.087 blood alcohol content reading. Due to his intoxicated state and lack of transportation, he was placed under arrest for public intoxication and transported to the Uintah County Jail.
At the jail, a second breath test was administered, resulting in a 0.099 blood alcohol content.
