9-1-1 Dispatcher Hear Two Men Arguing On The Phone, One Male Saying, “That’s Why I Pulled A Gun On You”

| Duchesne, County | April 13th, 2024 |

At 9:30 am, a Duchesne County Deputy responded to a call of a possible domestic violence altercation in the area of 18000 W Mountain View in Duchesne County.

Dispatch stated an ongoing argument between two men was overhead on the 9-1-1 call where the caller said, "You hit me and choked me, and that's why I pulled a gun on you."

When Deputy Green arrived on the scene, other deputies had secured the area and interviewed all parties separately. It was determined that the argument had started over the whereabouts of a gardening rake and escalated from there.

A female knocked on the door of a camp trailer just outside her home, where a male was residing, and woke him up. The male stated he was abruptly woken by yelling and someone banging on his door, so he opened the door and yelled back.

65-year-old Linnie Vince Isbell watched the argument and then approached the situation where the male and female continued to yell at each other. Linnie saw what he thought was the male aggressively advancing toward the female. Linnie stepped between the two to protect the female and shoved the male back into his camper.

Linnie stated that the male entered the camper and shut the door, separating himself from the situation.

Continuing the conflict, Linnie began banging and kicking on the camper door while yelling at the male. The male opened the door with a .22 rifle. Linnie entered the camp trailer unlawfully and started beating the male in the head and then wrapping his hands around the man's neck, leaving visible marks. Linnie stated that he punched the male repeatedly until he could take the rifle away from him.

Linnie stated his actions were performed in self-defense of himself and the female from the male because the male pointed a gun toward them.

The female stated she did not see the gun until Linnie entered the trailer and began fighting with the male on the bed. The female mentioned she heard screaming inside the trailer; when looking in, she saw them fighting over the gun.

The deputies determined that Linnie had no lawful reason to enter the male’s residence. After unlawfully entering the residence, Linnie restricted the male's airway amidst an assault and ultimately deprived him of his weapon, which he had a reasonable right to have.

Deputies placed Linnie under arrest for Burglary, Aggravated Assault, and Robbery. Linnie was transported to the Duchesne County Jail to be booked.
