A traffic stop was conducted on the vehicle at 1317 East Main Street (Highway 40) in Ballard, Utah. During the traffic stop, it was discovered that the driver didn't have a valid license.

An assisting Deputy asked if the two other occupants of the vehicle had valid licenses. One of the Passengers identified themselves as 39-year-old Christopher Javier Cairoli, who initially stated he had a valid license but later recanted that he did not.

A statewide records check was conducted on Christopher, and an active statewide warrant for his arrest was found. He was instructed to exit the vehicle and subsequently placed in handcuffs behind his back.

Prior to searching Christopher, a syringe was seen in plain view in his right front pocket. Upon inspection of this needle, a brown residue was observed and believed to be heroin.

Christopher admitted to having more controlled substances concealed in his underwear. He explained that he had concealed a ball of methamphetamine and a ball of heroin in his underwear. A ball is a common terminology used by drug users and sellers to determine 3 grams of an illegal substance.

Christopher also admitted to having sold and distributed methamphetamine and heroin for $100.00 per 1 gram of each illegal substance to his friends within the past week.

During the interview, Christopher also admitted to using a heavy amount of methamphetamine. Christopher also admitted to having previous charges of possession of controlled substances. A criminal history later revealed Christopher had been previously convicted for possession of controlled substances.

When Christopher arrived at the Uintah County Jail, he was further searched where the illegal narcotics described by Christopher were located. Inside the container, a bag of suspected methamphetamine weighed 3.66 grams, and the jail staff found a bag of suspected heroin weighing 3.91 grams.
